Hugo & His Derrière

Strangers I meet...... On a recent flight from Santa Barbara to DC a road warrior's worst fear came to pass..."Hugo", as we'll call him sat on my laptop and shattered the screen into what looked like a screen saver of the Northern lights. A small metal box with high security 20,000 feet in the air is not really the place to lose your mind and start a fight with a man who looks like a biker/pro wrestler turned corporate. Undoubtedly I would have lost. Instead we ordered drinks and tried to think of all the positives of smashing a computer and losing all your data at the start of a week long business trip. Turns out the list is short. "Hugo" works for a large credit card company which fortunately can afford to fix the mistakes of their employee's large derrière. Had this been one of the 7 million kids traveling to DC to be shuffled through the monuments by a sleep deprived teacher I might be up a creek. Onward.

Finally - A Facebook group for planners & hoteliers!

As we all know, Social Networking is sweeping the business industry and the way we communicate. It's a bit overwhelming to join Facebook, Linked In, MySpace, Plaxo and build a blog all in one day. However, it's easier than you may think if you connect bit by bit. You'll be surprised how easily you can expand your contacts and connect with people you haven't seen in years!

For meeting planners and hoteliers that are interested in staying connected there is now a Facebook group through www.EliteMeetings.com. This is a great way to share information with your peers on a day-to-day basis and stay updated on industry news.

Here is a link to the new www.EliteMeetings.com group on Facebook -http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=129353970264.

See you online!

Get Ready...there are some fabulous hotels coming to Park City!

I'm a big fan of hard hat tours! I love trucking through a constructions zone and hearing about the vision of the architect and designers (I personally have been known to take 6 months trying to decide what color to paint one wall in my bedroom).

While in Park City I had the privilege of being introduced to the new St. Regis Deer Crest and Dakota Mountain Lodge, part of the Waldorf=Astoria collection.

The new St. Regis Deer Crest which is scheduled to open the summer of 2009. While reviewing the renderings and model room, I was impressed with the attention to detail that is going into the design and development of the new Starwood property. The finished product will be a beautifully understated mountain luxury with a strong focus on the quality St. Regis is known for. The 67 hotel condominiums and additional private residences will be right at the base of the mountain with beautiful views of Deer Valley.

Dakota Mountain Lodge opening June of 2009 is the first new build for Waldorf=Astoria and will more than earn it's place in the top tier of Hilton properties. The property will be very close to The Canyons with is own personal tram. When completed Dakota Mountain Lodge will have the most extensive meeting space in Park City. The U shaped layout of the property lends to an intimacy in the private courtyard perfect for outdoor group functions.

A winter wonderland in Park City Utah!

The only thing better than enjoying epic snowboarding conditions in Park City with a handsome man is returning to the gorgeous Hotel Park City to sit in your private jacuzzi with amazing views of the Rockie Mountains!

The 2 days that we spent at Hotel Park City prior to heading to my parents in Star Valley, WY were decadent to say the least. It's easy to fall in love with fresh powder, luxurious linens, rich furs and leathers. We personally enjoy treating ourselves to a nice steak dinner and the mouth watering fillet at Ruth's Chris was just the ticket!

I must admit that I am not the most tech savvy individual and when turning on the TV failed me, the staff at Hotel Park City was at my room within minutes. It turns out that 3 feet of snow isn't always the best for your satellite signal. I'm not complaining because it was perfect for the runs the next day!
